St. Anthony, commonly referred to as Saint Anthony Village, is a city in Hennepin and Ramsey counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota. St. Anthony is a first-ring suburb of the Twin Cities, located just five miles northeast of Minneapolis and eight miles northwest of downtown St. Paul. The population was 8,425 in July of 2009. About 6,000 residents live in Hennepin County, with about 2,000 St. Anthony residents in Ramsey County.
St. Anthony has managed to preserve its intimate, small-town atmosphere despite its location so close to two goliath cities. St. Anthony has several parks operated by the City, the most notable of which is Central Park, located near the heart of the community. St. Anthony is easily accessible via I-35W, County Road D, Highway 88, Highway 280, Interstate Highway 94, Silver Lake Road and Interstate Highway 694.The St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses of the University of Minnesota are a 15-minute drive from St. Anthony, making it a convenient location for students, faculty, and staff who prefer not to live in on the campus. St. Anthony is serviced by the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District, ISD #282. In the spring of 2006 the St. Anthony Village High School Huskies claimed ISD 282's first major state Championship in Baseball. They have also won three Class AA state championships in Knowledge Bowl.
